There goes the bell!
Wow, the first school quarter of 2021 is done and dusted and what a quarter it has been! We can all say that life has taken a very different turn that we have had to adjust to, and very quickly. Thankfully the vaccine roll out is taking place, so we are assured that a return to life as we used to know it is on the horizon. Till then we hope everyone is sanitizing, washing their hands, wearing their masks, and social distancing.
In some really great news, we are on track to registering 2000 kids across our clubs this year. This is a major milestone as it’s not just a number to us, we know that we are changing lives, and shepherding future leaders for bigger and brighter futures. We have also launched new partnerships with community based organizations like Diski NINE 9, to offer soccer coaches at our Protea Glenn club. We have also partnered with NBA Africa to restart our basketball programs and Gauteng Cricket to bring cricket to our Clubs.
Despite the many challenges and obstacles the kids have been through, they are a true testament to resilience. We see this through the great results from our Power Hour champs! We would like to place the spotlight on a few of our Power Hour champs: Waneda Leo, Lindokuhle, Aviwe Mandla, Vuyo Mzoboshe, Chloe Khumalo, Tshepiso Noge, Antoinello Paul, Koketso van Wyk. We hope to see more of our youth doing great things and not letting circumstance stand in their way.
The need for our Clubs is never ending, so as much as the school term is out we continue to push to create better futures for our Club Members. We are excited to be starting our holiday program across our clubs. This program is great because children who may be a little behind will be assisted and also taught valuable life skills for the future. It also gives kids a place to go when their parents may be at work or unable to supervise them, keeping them safe and stimulating their minds! We are looking forward to Term 2 and all the possibilities it will bring.
