Testimonials

“What drew us to partner with BGCSA was their deep commitment to equity, mentorship, and opportunity for all youth — especially those who need it most. From the moment I learned about their programs, I could see the genuine care they have for empowering young people not just academically, but socially and emotionally. BGCSA creates safe spaces where kids can dream bigger, build confidence, and discover their potential. The impact they make is generational—helping youth grow into leaders who will shape stronger communities for years to come.”

Nohlanhla Maboa

Assistant Director - Sport and Recreation Directorate (City of Jo’burg)

“I am pleased to share a testimonial for the exceptional service provided by Boys and Girls Club South Africa for the past years in collaboration with the City of Joburg, Sport and Recreation Directorate. The feedback from the communities is invaluable and impressive. The children feel safe, supported immensely and valued. BGCSA’s service is a game – changer for their children. It has created job opportunities, reduced the rate of unemployment in the country and has produced young people that are disciplined and with strong morals. The City of Joburg investing resources to BGCSA has impacted positively to the society and yielded good results. The children are developed holistically and are empowered through the afterschool programmes offered by the club, promoting overall health and wellbeing in young people and creating well – balanced and complete individuals. I so wish that every child can go through such a programme which brings out the best out of each child. Young ones are able to discover themselves, become mature adults and great future leaders.”

Karen du Plessis

Deputy Director - Sport and Recreation

“A Beacon of Hope and Opportunity: Residing within five of City-owned Sport and Recreation facilities, in the City of Johannesburg,  these clubs have become vital hubs of support, safety, and growth. Modelled on the highly successful Boys and Girls Clubs of America, these local clubs address critical needs in a holistic manner, in the most professional and effective manner !
The program does not only speak to a nurturing environment where children receive essential academic support and other activities but also the “home away from home”, in communities where social ills are rife! Perhaps most critically, the program guarantees a nutritious meal for every child in attendance, addressing food insecurity that is prevalent in these areas. The results speak for themselves: improved academic performance, increased school attendance, and a marked positive change in the children’s confidence and behavior.”
