About Boys & Girls Club

We operate programs across 8 Clubs in Gauteng namely Alex, Bertrams, Maraisburg, Mofolo, Protea Glen, Pimville, and Vrededorp, and a pilot Club at Sekano-Ntoane High School. Each day over 1,200 of our 2,000+ Club Members attends our Clubs. Every day after school we deliver high-impact programs covering academics, technology, life skills, sports, and arts and also ensure the kids don’t go hungry serving everyone a nutritious meal cooked in our kitchens. Our first Club opened its doors in 2011 and we have been slowly growing ever since.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of South Africa’s mission is to inspire, equip and empower the young people in these communities to dream bigger and venture into the world as people who are conscious and empowered. We go out of our way to ensure to provide a holistic experience at our Clubs. We do this by not only focusing on academics but also promoting sports, gardening, exploring the world of tech through our various programs. We provide children in disadvantaged communities with the care and support that they may not receive at home or from school.

Many of our Club Members are exposed to the negative aspects of our society. In order to combat the negative impacts of such exposure we understand that we are more than just caregivers, we are trusted friends and mentors for our youth to rely on. Our Clubs are considered safe spaces for all our members. Club Members are able to be their authentic selves, without judgment. We teach our Club Members about respect, self-esteem, confidence, kindness, and work ethic – we believe Great Futures Start Here!

BGCSA has three priority outcome areas for impact:

  • Academic Success
  • Healthy Lifestyles
  • Good Character & Citizenship

Our strategic goal is to serve over 10 000 children by the year 2025,  we are fast approaching our goal with our new school-based #ClubsWithoutWalls pilot which kicked off in May 2021 in Pimville in partnership with Sekano-Ntoane Secondary School.

BGCSA has a variety of programs covering academics, arts, technology, life skills, sports, and community development.
